Challenge
This calendar design required creating a functional 2026 calendar system that balanced accuracy, consistency, and visual variety across all twelve months. The design needed to feature original artwork while adapting successfully into two final formats: a traditional wall calendar and a poster version that reorganized the information into a single-page layout without sacrificing clarity or usability.
Solution
I created an Oregon State Symbols calendar, with each month highlighting a different state symbol, including the state bird, flower, fruit, tree, and more. Each page features an original detailed line illustration paired with a monochromatic color palette, with colors selected to complement both the featured symbol and the full calendar system as a whole. Maintaining consistency while creating enough visual variation between months was a key focus throughout the process. For the poster adaptation, I reformatted the layout by aligning all calendar grids centrally and moving the artwork to the side, creating a cleaner composition that preserved readability while establishing a strong sense of visual structure.
